M.Phil/Ph.D Admission-2013

M.Phil/Ph.D Entrance Test-2013

Dr Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar will conduct M.Phil and Ph.D entrance tests in the last week of May, 2013 for admission to M.Phil and Ph.D level programme for the academic session 2013-14

Admissions will be given according to merit in the entrance test and interview, subject to verification of eligibility in the particular course for which the candidate has applied

M.Phil: English, Hindi, Sociology

Duration: Two semesters

Eligibility: Candidates who have secured above 55% marks (without rounding off)/6.0 CGPA in (0-9) ten point grade scale, for General/OBC (NCL), in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from universities/ institutes recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the entrance test

SC/ST/PC category students who have secured 50% marks (without rounding off)/5.0 CGPA in (0-9) ten point grade scale in the Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the test

Age Limit: Maximum age upto 28 years as on 01st July, 2013
Upper age limit may be relaxed upto five years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/ PC/Female, and in the case of OBC (Non creamy layer) upto three years

The admission would be given on the basis of merit only, evaluating the performance of the candidate in the interview conducted by the department concerned

Ph.D: Adult Education, Anthropology, General and Applied Geography, Applied Geology, Botany, Business Management, Chemistry, Commerce, Criminology and Forensic Science, English, History, Music,Pharmaceutical Sciences, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Yogic Science, Zoology, Economics,Hindi

Duration: A research scholar registered to the programme will have to pass two semesters course work followed by two years research work

Eligibility: Candidates who have secured above 55% marks (without rounding off)/6.0 CGPA in ten point scale (0-9) for General/OBC (NCL) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from universities/institutes recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the entrance test

SC/ST/PC category students who have secured 50% marks (without rounding off)/5.0 CGPA in ten point scale (0-9) in the Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the test

The candidate studying in the last semester of the qualifying examination may also apply, but he/she must have to produce final result before the date of interview, failing which his/her candidature will automatically stand cancelled

Age Limit: Upper age limit is 28 years as on 01st July, 2013

There is a relaxation in upper age up to 5 years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/ PC/Female candidates, in the case of OBC (NCL) category upto three years

There is a relaxation of 3 years in upper age limit for LL.M candidates
There is no upper age limit for NET-JRF qualified candidates; acandidate who is a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships from government/semi-government organization such as

CSIR/UGC/AICTE/DST/DRDO/DAE/DBT/ICAR/ICMR/AYUSH and similar national-level organizations accredited by UGC
Admission Procedure: The admission to Ph.D course would be given by the following methods
Direct admission through interview

A candidate who fulfils one of the following requirements may be considered for direct admission to the Ph.D programme without appearing in the entrance test, but through the interview

A candidate who is qualified in a national level test such as National Eligibility Test (NET-JRF), or equivalent to national-level test

The candidates having M.Phil degree (admitted M.Phil degree by All India level entrance test and passed M.Phil through CBCS system) with not less than 6.0 CGP in 10 point (0-9) grade, shall be directly admitted to Ph.D programme subject to a successful oral presentation at the interview/viva-voce conducted for such purpose by the DPGC and approved by APC afterward

The candidates must be in possession of minimum specified marks/grade point at the Master’s degree
A candidate who is a recipient of National Doctoral Fellowship or other fellowships from government/semi-government organizations such as CSIR/UGC/AICTE/DST/DRDO/DAE/DBT/ICAR/ICMR/AYUSH and similar national-level organizations
A candidate who is selected under quality improvement program (QIP) of AICTE, faculty development programme (FDP) of UGC provided that he/she has obtained appropriate study leave

A candidate who is sponsored as a full-time candidate by any other university institution/ college/ government department/public sector undertaking/R&D organization, provided that the he/she has obtained appropriate study leave for pursuing Ph.D programme in a Department/School of the University

A foreign national who is a recipient of fellowship by ICCR/Govt of India and is sponsored by his/her
Government
A self-financing foreign national who is admitted through the embassies/high commission of his/her country after getting approval from the Ministry of External Affairs and no objection certificate from the

Dept of Higher Education, MHRD, Govt of India or admitted under an MOU

A candidate who is sponsored as a part time candidate by a non-degree awarding institution/government department/public sector undertaking/R&D organization who shall work for his/her Ph.D in his/her parent organization fulfilling the residency period requirement prescribed in the relevant ordinances

The candidate is required to submit a sponsorship and work experience certificate from the parent organization

The non-degree awarding institutions, government departments, public sector undertakings, R&D organizations are only those, which are recognized as centers of research by the university as specified in the ordinances

Teachers/Govt servants will be permitted to pursue Ph.D program with necessary eligibility and qualifications subject to the permission and requisite leave from their parent department for the period of Ph.D program as it is a full time course
Admission through entrance test followed by interview

The candidates other than above and fulfills the criteria may be admitted through entrance test followed by interview

Admit Card: The candidate has to download his admit card on line from www.dhsgsu.ac.in
Admit card shall not be sent by post

Application Form: Application for M.Phil/Ph.D entrance test-2013 can be submitted on-line onwww.dhsgsu.ac.in

The candidate should print/download the application form for M.Phil/Ph.D-2013 and send the hard copy to the Chairman Admission Cell, Dr Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar-470003

The following should also be enclosed with the form; copy of the bank challan, date of birth proof, caste certificate, NET-JRF certificate etc

Fee for entrance test; general category Rs 900/-; OBC (NCL) category Rs 450/-; SC/ST/PH/VH Rs 225/-

Fee be deposited through challan forms SBI Power Jyoti Account A/c No-32000156472 (Subhead-F) payable in any branch of State Bank of India (SBI), all over India
